If you have not heard or been to The Farm Animal Sanctuary in Middle Littleton, Evesham, then it is well worth a visit with the family. We visited the sanctury on their Open Day in August 2022, and we were also very honoured to meet all the rescue animals! And their Patron Dame Joanna Lumley.
A little background about the sanctuary...
The Farm Animal Sanctuary was established nearly 40 years ago by founder Jan Taylor. And due to Jan and her team's passion they now care for and home over 600 farm animals, 365 days of the year. Most have been rescued or donated from UK Farms. But sadly, the land that homes all these animals is currently up for sale, this, of course, is very concerning for the team, as finding a new home and disrupting 600 rescue animals is really not a plan... but the landlord has agreed to sell the land to the charity directly, but only if they can raise the funds.
Why is this important to buy the land and raise more money?
Find out below... We interviewed the fundraiser manager Helen at their open day event on 6th August 2022.
The Farm Animal Sanctuary is not only lucky to have a brilliant team of dedicated volunteer's, who all help the day-to-day running and welfare of the animals, but also have the full support of Dame Joanna Lumley as their Patron for the charity. Dame Jonna Lumley attended the Saturday event, and went out of her way to met with most of the traders who attended the event, with her down-to-earth attitude and support for this cause she also gave an inspirational talk to all those that attended. This was also covered by BBC News and the Local Press. Dame Joanna Lumley is really helping to raise e profile of this cause, in hope of the farm gaining enough funds to buy the land, so all animals can stay where they know best. Find out how you can donate below.
Evesham Noticeboard Katie Gilbert meets Dame Joanna Lumley at the fundraising event!
We caught up with Dame Jonna Lumley, who I can assure you really is a "sweetie darling". Jonna really is such a caring lady. It was an honour to meet her a The Farm Animal Sanctuary Patron. We thought it would be nice to give her a gift from our Vale of Evesham, thanks to The Evesham Farm Shop on Evesham High Street for the locally grown Victoria Plums, and our local TIC The Almonry for the Evesham leaflets. Dame Joanna Lumley thanked us for the local plums and said she was delighted, the first ones of the year! And to our surprise even phoned and thanked Katie Gilbert directly for the lovely leaflet about Evesham and her delicious plums.
If you would like to know more, donate, visit the farm as it is open for families to visit, actually a lovely day out! Then please visit www.thefarmanimalsanctuary.co.uk

"We have the chance to purchase Manor Orchard Farm, and we must act quickly. The farm is currently for sale; therefore, we risk losing out if another party submits a reasonable bid. Many of our older animals, including an elderly blind sheep and a blind horse, would need to be put to death for their wellbeing and per a veterinarian’s recommendation in order for us to transport them. Furthermore, a collection of more than five hundred diverse farm animals had nowhere else to go.

Louise from The Farm Animal Sanctuary said "We want to say a massive thank you to each and everyone of you that visited us this weekend We welcomed over 1000 people through our gates"
