Top Dog Walking Spots in Evesham and the Vale

The Valley

Evesham, The Valley Country Park

The Valley, formerly known as Evesham Country park has a number of paths which are perfect for ramblers and dog-walkers alike. The country park takes in fields and woodland and is bordered on one side by the River Avon. It is fairly hilly here but there are clearly marked paths, many of which have been graveled. For easy access, you can park in the free car park to the rear of the Valley's main car park and there are plenty of dog bins about as well.

River Avon Riverside Path, Evesham

Gemma Edwards, River Avon towards Hampton, Evesham

The River Avon has plenty of walks and this is just one of them. This walk starts near the main bridge in Evesham (by the leisure centre) from where you can walk towards Hampton Ferry and beyond if you wish. Much of the path is tarmacked and the rest is graveled although from Hampton Ferry you'll be walking on grass. You can park in the car park by the leisure centre where you will also find toilets. Car parking starts from £3.

Eoves Wood, Hampton

Gemma Edwards / Entrance to Eoves Wood

Eoves Wood in Hampton is another nice spot for walking your furry friend. Accessed from School Lane in Hampton it's a great place to take your dog for a walk with several path choices. Parking is very limited here and the lane is very potholed so take care on access and park considerately.

Tiddesley Woods, Pershore

Philip Halling / Footpath beside Tiddesley Wood

Set into the hills above Pershore, Tiddesley Woods is a 200-acre site with lots of footpaths to choose from so no two walks ever have to be the same. With graveled paths throughout, benches and plenty of bins it's the perfect spot to walk your dog. Ensure you stick to the footpaths though as there is a shooting range located at the South Eastern edge of the site. Tiddesley Woods has its own dedicated parking off Rebecca Road for easy access plus there are plenty of dog bins to use on site.

The Isbourne Way, Sedgeberrow

Gemma Edwards / Footbridge over the River Isbourne at Sedgeberrow

The Isbourne Way is a new walking route that starts on Cleeve Hill by the source of the River Isbourne and then follows the River to where it meets the Avon in Hampton. You can walk the whole stretch or just parts of it and one good starting place is in Sedgeberrow. You can join the footpath at Winchcome Road, either via the lane opposite the Queens Head Pub or through the gate at the rear of the children's playground. There is on-street parking available at Winchcombe Road and Main Street but please park considerately.

The Cotswold Way, Chipping Campden

Gemma Edwards / Cotswold Way Sign @ Dovers Hill

The Cotswold Way is a 102-mile route starting just a few miles away at Chipping Campden and terminating in Bath taking in the Cotswolds on the way. You can join in the market square in Chipping Campden or further along the route depending on how long a walk you'd like. Access will depend on where you join - visit the National Trail's Website for more information.

Dovers Hill

Gemma Edwards / Dover's Hill

Dover's Hill is cared for by the National Trust. It's a natural amphitheater set in the countryside just outside of Chipping Campden. It's also home to the 'Cotswold Olimpick Games' held in June of each year, where games such as shin-kicking (with soft shoes!) and tug of war take place. Dover's Hill is a lovely place to take your pooch for a walk although they must stay on a lead due to the livestock situated there. There is a dedicated car park here run by the National Trust and there are plenty of dog bins too.

Bredon Hill

 Stephen Dawson / Bredon Hill

Bredon Hill is a lovely spot to take your dog for a walk. Whilst it is further afield it's still in the Vale of Evesham and offers great views of the Cotswolds and Vale. There's also a tower at the top known either as Parson's Folly Or Banbury Tower. With lots of open space, it's a fantastic place where you can take your dog off the lead leaving them free to explore. Bredon Hill doesn't have dedicated parking, instead, we would recommend parking in Elmley Castle and walking the approximate 1 hour journey to the top.

River Avon Walk, Bidford upon Avon

Philip Halling / Bidford Bridge at Bidford on Avon

The River Avon at Bidford-on-Avon is a picturesque spot perfect for all the family to visit. You can walk along the river here and your pooch can even go for a dip as the river is usually slow-moving. You'll walk mostly through fields here but it can get busy on weekends and bank holidays so this is something to bear in mind. Paid parking is available at the picnic spot by the bridge and there are toilets here although these only tend to be unlocked at peak times.

Broadway Tower

Gemma Edwards / Broadway Tower

Broadway Tower is a well-known attraction in the area and can be seen from many places in Evesham. The tower is set in its own grounds where there is also a cafe, shop, museum and a nuclear bunker. Dogs are welcome but must stay on a lead but there are dog waste bins here as well. There's also plenty of dedicated paid car parking as well.
